About Us

Michael Emberly and Donald King partnered to form Basin Stationery and Office Supplies Limited in October 1979. Located in the north end Halifax, the firm qiuckly expanded and required a larger building therefore, they have moved from the founding location on Lady Hammond Road to its current location on Strawberry Hill Street. Donald King retired in 2005, and Michael's son, Steven Emberly, purchased Donald's shares in Basin, becoming Vice President and Purchasing Manager. Father and son continue to build the company on the founding philosophy of customer service.

Basin Stationery, operating as Basin Basics Halifax, Basin Basics Truro and Highland Basics, is a locally owned Nova Scotian company which services mainland Nova Scotia. We have a (size) sq. ft Office Supply Storefront, Furniture Showroom, Warehouse and Distribution Centre sited at Suite 130,3667 Strawberry Hill Street, Halifax. In addition we have retail stores located in Truro and Antigonish. We operate our own delivery trucks for the greater Halifax-Metro area and for deliveries outside the Halifax-Metro area, we offer next day delivery via a number of different professional courier companies depending on our customers needs. Currently we have 39 full and part time employees including ten dedicated office supply and furniture representatives, and a telemarketing representative. We also have two qualified furniture installers on contract.

Basin Basics is a member of Basics Office Products, Canada's largest independent Canadian buying group. Basics brings the buying power of over thirty dealers together to interact directly with manufacturers and offer our customers competitive prices and rapid service. We offer a yearly catalogue along with a monthly flyer program and maintain an inventory of over (size) items. On (date) we received our ISO9001:2000 registration. The new ISO9001 standard is very focused on not merely meeting, but exceeding customer satisfaction.
